In the lecture titled introduction to sleep science – I cover, theories to why we sleep, what sleep is and how sleep is initiated/ regulated. Then we move onto normal sleep physiology and some clinical impacts of poor sleep related to the brain and in chronic disease. Following on with an introduction obstructive sleep apnoea, a sleep-disordered breathing condition that up to 25% of males and 10% of females now suffer from.
