For as long as I can remember, Armin van Buuren’s music has been a companion through every stage of my life. Since I was 15, A State of Trance Radio has been the soundtrack to my long reflective walks, the gym sessions that shaped my early twenties, and Thursday evenings when I’d tune in while stretching or working on fascia release after long days in the lab. His music travelled with me through clubs across the UK and Europe, festivals around the world, and some of the most introspective moments of my life.

Now, to see one of my heroes embracing the breath — it feels like everything has come full circle.

In this video, I react to Armin van Buuren’s interview with Zane Lowe on Apple Music, where he opens up about his new classical album and his journey through mental health struggles, addiction, and spiritual awakening.

We explore his transformation, his discovery of the power of breathing, and how this practice has changed his relationship with music, life, and self.

And of course I unpack some science, emotion, and humanity behind Armin’s discussion points — many of which are a reminder to us all that even the most driven and successful must learn to slow down, breathe, and listen within.
