Sally Howe

Sal Howe is a Functional Breathing and Orofacial Myofunctional Therapist based in the Coolangatta/Tweed region and Byron Bay. With a Bachelor’s Degree with Honours in Community Health Studies (UK). Her career spans the UK, New Zealand, and Australia, including community youth development, health promotion, and education.

Drawing from her background as a competitive swimmer, surf coach, and lifelong water lover, Sal blends clinical training with deep practical experience of how the body performs under pressure,  in sport, in sleep, and in everyday life.

Sal is trained in Breath Science, Buteyko Method, Oxygen Advantage, and Apnea Survival, as well as comprehensive Orofacial Myofunctional Therapy. Her work focuses on restoring healthy breathing patterns, improving airway function, and supporting optimal facial and jaw development.

What Sal Does

Sal provides personalised breath retraining, myofunctional therapy, and airway-focused support for children, teens, and adults. She works to correct dysfunctional breathing, improve nasal breathing, support jaw growth and tongue posture, and address issues such as snoring, sleep-disordered breathing, poor sleep quality, anxiety, mouth breathing, and performance limitations.

Her approach integrates functional breathing, myofunctional exercises, lifestyle education, sleep optimisation, stress regulation, and performance-based breathwork.

Why She Does This Work

Sal is passionate about helping people feel, function, and breathe better. She believes that breathing is the foundation of health,  influencing sleep, focus, nervous-system balance, energy, emotional regulation, and physical performance. Having faced firsthand the impact of dysfunctional breathing on both daily wellbeing and long-term health issues, she is committed to empowering people with simple, effective, clinically grounded tools that make a tangible difference.

Who She Supports

Sal works with:

  • Children with mouth breathing, sleep issues, airway obstruction, tongue posture challenges, or myofunctional concerns
  • Teens and adults wanting better sleep, reduced snoring, and improved breathing habits
  • Surfers, swimmers, and athletes seeking enhanced performance, recovery, CO₂ tolerance, stress management, and breath-hold confidence
  • Anyone wanting to improve sleep, energy, reduce stress, support emotional regulation, or optimise their overall wellbeing

Her practice combines compassion, science, and practical guidance to help clients breathe well, sleep well, and live well — both in and out of the water.
