FAQs
BRIT is a 12-week applied professional training built around the School of Breath Science 3R System™: Restoration, Regulation and Resilience. It is designed for professionals who want a structured way to assess needs, select appropriate practices and progressively build capacity with clients.
The Breath Science Practitioner Certification is the more comprehensive pathway. It develops substantially greater depth across functional breathing, applied psychophysiology such as nervous system regulation and somatic work, sleep, exercise, therapeutic breathwork, behavioural science, assessment and individualised practitioner reasoning. BRIT stands alone as an applied training; BSC is for practitioners who want to work beyond a single system with broader scientific understanding and decision-making skills.
BRIT is a 12-week core training with seven live integration sessions and six months of practitioner development access. Most participants should allow approximately 3–5 hours per week for learning, practice and integration.
The Breath Science Practitioner Certification is a 12-month pathway comprising approximately seven months of structured education followed by five months of supervised integration. Most participants should allow approximately 5–7 hours per week, although this will vary with prior knowledge and study pace.
No formal medical or scientific qualification is required. The certification is academically rigorous and designed for breathwork practitioners, coaches, therapists, health professionals and others who want a deeper scientific understanding of breathing and responsible application. Curiosity, professional maturity and a willingness to study are more important than holding a particular prior breathwork qualification.
After completing the required learning and competency assessments, you will receive a Breath Science Practitioner certificate from the School of Breath Science. This confirms completion and assessed competency within the School’s educational pathway. It does not confer a medical or regulated clinical qualification, replace professional registration or extend your legal scope of practice.
Students learn alongside other practitioners through live sessions, course discussion and the School community. Training access includes the practitioner support and resources stated for the programme you purchase. After the included period, graduates can continue their development through the Free Community, Professional Membership and, where eligible, the Practitioner Inner Circle.
The next step depends on the pathway. BRIT cohort details and enrolment are available through the current BRIT page. For the Breath Science Practitioner Certification, complete the eligibility survey and, if the programme appears suitable, you will be invited to a short fit call to discuss your background, goals and next step. Contact the School directly if you are considering a 1:1 pathway.
The online learning environment includes structured lessons, referenced education, guided practices, workbooks, assessment and monitoring tools, knowledge checks, session recordings and supporting resources. The exact curriculum and access period depend on whether you enrol in BRIT, the Breath Science Practitioner Certification or a 1:1 pathway.
Support depends on the programme and enrolment option. Group pathways include scheduled live practitioner sessions for questions, practical application, case discussion, feedback and professional reasoning, alongside community discussion. 1:1 pathways provide more individualised support at the frequency and through the channels stated in the selected package. Support is educational and does not replace clinical supervision outside the School’s scope.
The training develops more than technique delivery. Students learn to gather relevant information, recognise context and readiness, select and adapt interventions, monitor response, and understand when to progress, regress, stop or refer. Live practice, case discussion, applied assessment and feedback help translate the educational material into clearer professional reasoning. Completion does not replace any registration, insurance, legal requirement or scope attached to your existing profession.
No breathing practice is universally suitable. Safety depends on the individual, the practice, the dose and the context. School training covers screening, contraindications, modification, progressive exposure, monitoring and referral. Practitioners are expected to work within their competence and professional scope, and to seek medical or psychological input where symptoms, history or risk make that appropriate. A health waiver supports screening but does not establish that an intervention is safe for a particular person.
Use the School of Breath Science practitioner directory to review practitioners by location and professional background. Each practitioner works within their own qualifications, competence and scope, so review their profile and speak with them directly about whether their experience is appropriate for your needs.
BSC is a 12-month practitioner pathway with approximately seven months of structured education and five months of supervised integration. It includes 13 modules, referenced lessons, live practitioner sessions, workbooks, assessment tools, practical resources, case-based learning and competency assessment. The precise access period and support level depend on the group or 1:1 option selected.
Discounts are not guaranteed across every programme or membership. Any current graduate, returning-student or group offer will be shown on the relevant enrolment page or confirmed by the School before purchase. Contact the School if you are enrolling a professional team or believe an existing student or graduate rate applies to you.
Group BRIT and Breath Science Practitioner Certification enrolments include a 14-day refund period from the date of purchase. Refund requests for 1:1 training are considered case by case before delivery begins. Membership payments are not refunded on a pro-rata basis once a billing charge has occurred; cancelling prevents the next renewal and access continues until the end of the paid billing period.
BRIT and BSC cohort enrolments may be transferred once to the next available cohort when the request is made before the programme starts. This policy does not limit any rights that apply under consumer law.
The current BRIT group training starts at USD 1,697. The Breath Science Practitioner Certification starts at AUD 6,299. Payment-plan and 1:1 options may also be available. Because prices, tax treatment and cohort offers can change, use the current enrolment page for the programme as the authoritative source before purchasing.
Professional Membership includes recorded and live practitioner-development activities such as journal clubs, case-study discussions and applied education. Sessions examine current research, professional reasoning and real-world application, and recordings are made available where stated. Certification students and graduates may also have access to additional Practitioner Inner Circle sessions. The current community calendar is the authoritative source for dates and access.
The School of Breath Science provides professional education in breathing, physiology, nervous-system regulation and resilience. Its training helps coaches, therapists, health professionals and breath practitioners move beyond isolated techniques by developing scientific understanding, practical systems and the professional judgement required to assess, individualise and apply breath-based interventions responsibly.
BRIT is designed for coaches, therapists, health professionals, breath practitioners and other professionals who work with people and want an applied system for assessment, restoration, regulation and resilience. The Breath Science Practitioner Certification is the deeper pathway for practitioners seeking substantially greater scientific depth, assessment skill and individualised practitioner reasoning. Neither programme requires a medical qualification, but BSC is more academically demanding and both require professional maturity and responsible application.
School of Breath Science training is designed to move beyond isolated techniques and one-size-fits-all protocols. Students learn the relevant mechanisms, assess context and readiness, select and adapt interventions, monitor response, and understand when to progress, regress or refer. BRIT teaches an applied system for restoration, regulation and resilience. The Breath Science Practitioner Certification develops broader scientific knowledge, assessment and individualised practitioner reasoning across multiple areas of practice.
Yes. The education is evidence-informed and draws on referenced material across respiratory physiology, psychophysiology, nervous-system regulation, sleep, exercise, stress, behaviour and human performance. Practical methods and traditional influences may also be examined, but they are not presented as scientifically established when the evidence is limited, theoretical or speculative.
Breath science is the interdisciplinary study and application of breathing across respiratory physiology, psychophysiology, sleep, exercise, stress, behaviour and human performance. At the School of Breath Science, these areas are integrated with practical education so practitioners can understand not only how a practice is performed, but why, when and for whom it may be appropriate. The training is evidence-informed and distinguishes established evidence from theory, tradition and speculation.
The Breath Science Practitioner Certification is a 12-month pathway. It includes approximately seven months of structured education followed by five months of supervised integration, allowing time to develop and apply the scientific knowledge, practical frameworks and practitioner reasoning. Most participants should allow approximately 5–7 hours per week, although this varies with prior knowledge and study pace.
Both pathways combine structured online education with live practitioner sessions. The online material can be completed around professional and personal commitments, while the live sessions focus on application, practical skills, questions, case discussion, feedback and professional reasoning. Cohort times and replay arrangements are shown on the current enrolment page for each programme.
Assessment is based on demonstrated understanding and application rather than attendance alone. BRIT concludes with a final examination and an applied case study. The Breath Science Practitioner Certification includes knowledge assessment, practical competencies, case studies and a final examination. Students who complete the requirements receive the certificate for their programme. Certification confirms completion and assessed competency within that educational pathway; it does not confer a medical or regulated clinical qualification.
Access depends on the programme and enrolment option. BRIT includes six months of continued access to its training resources and practitioner development environment. BSC group participants can choose a lifetime course-access upgrade, while some 1:1 packages may include lifetime access to course materials. Lifetime course access does not mean lifetime Professional Membership, live support or community access; those continue only for the period stated in the package purchased.
The certification develops the knowledge and reasoning required to move beyond simply guiding breathing exercises. Students learn to assess individuals, understand relevant mechanisms, select and adapt interventions, monitor response, and recognise when referral or further investigation may be appropriate. It can strengthen work within an existing professional role, but it does not guarantee employment, business results or authority to practise outside your qualifications, insurance and local legal scope.
Graduates can remain connected through the Free Community and may continue their professional development through Professional Membership, which includes the wider education library, journal clubs, case-study discussions, guided practice resources and live practitioner development. Eligible BSC students and graduates may also access the Practitioner Inner Circle for advanced case discussion and continued professional reasoning.
Yes. Monthly Professional Membership can be cancelled through the billing section of your account. Your access remains active until the end of the billing period you have already paid for.
No. The Free Community is open to people who want to explore breath science through selected education, guided practices, public events and discussion. Professional Membership is designed more specifically for coaches, therapists, health professionals, students and graduates who want ongoing practitioner development.
The Practitioner Inner Circle is an advanced professional development space for students enrolled in the Breath Science Practitioner Certification and certified graduates. It focuses on practitioner mastery, case discussion, professional reasoning and continued development. Access is provided through certification enrolment or by invitation.
