I recently joined Lars Christian Larssen on his podcast for a conversation about breath, stress, performance, health, and the nervous system.
Lars is also a member of our School of Breath Science community, so it was really nice to sit down with him and explore some of the deeper ideas behind this work.
We spoke about my background as a clinical respiratory and sleep specialist, why breath is often overlooked in healthcare, how modern life overstimulates the nervous system, and why sustainable performance requires regulation — not just more effort.
Some of the themes we covered include:
– Breath as an expression of the nervous system
– Why modern life is increasing stress, anxiety, and exhaustion
– Why many people need better regulation, not just more techniques
– The limits of “one size fits all” breathwork advice
– Why sleep, habits, and lifestyle form the foundation
– How self-awareness and regulation support better choices, performance, and quality of life
– Why the School of Breath Science teaches system understanding, not just breathing techniques
This was a great conversation, and I think many of you will really enjoy it.
Thanks again to Lars for having me on. (the AI thumbnail cracks me up)
